NNB and Axiom Foods have partnered to develop a new platform of plant protein technologies called PeptiClear for the global food industry. The proteins are suitable for functional foods and beverages, ice cream and frozen desserts, condiments, dressings, sauces, confectionery, baked goods, high-protein snacks, and other everyday functional foods.

Unlike conventional plant proteins that can introduce undesirable taste, grittiness, or opacity, the clear, hydrolyzed plant proteins deliver a neutral flavor profile, improved functionality, and exceptional solubility, the companies reported. The highly concentrated clear protein ingredients can perform across applications where conventional plant proteins have struggled.

“NNB believes the future of protein isn’t about replacing whey, it’s about expanding the world’s ability to deliver high-quality protein across every food format,” said Dustin Elliott, chief brand officer at NNB. “As consumer demand continues to outpace traditional dairy supply, the industry needs innovative solutions that combine functionality, scalability, and performance.”

Alongside this collaboration, NNB has introduced DL-185, a dietary di-leucine peptide designed to enhance the anabolic potential of protein applications. It is composed of two leucine molecules naturally linked together in peptide form, and can be incorporated into foods and dietary supplements similarly to leucine.

A clinical study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that the ingredient demonstrated approximately 60% greater stimulation of muscle protein synthesis compared to leucine. Another human clinical study in PLOS One found that DL-185 produced greater improvements in strength compared to leucine supplementation in resistance-trained individuals.
